
The White Stripes are an American band formed in 1997 within Detroit, Michigan. The White Stripes consists of two band members, Jack White on vocals, guitar, and keyboards, and Jack's ex-wife, Meg White, on drums and occasionally vocals. The White Stripes released three albums and many singles via the Detroit area underground independent music scene before they rose to fame within the U.K. and U.S. during 2002's garage rock revival. The White Stripes fuse punk, blues, and low fidelity recording to deliver a raw and simple but powerful sound. The White Stripes offer audiences a distinct performance with their trademark eclectic fashion based in red, white, and black, as well as their brand of music.
As of 2010, the White Stripes had produced seven albums (one live), two extended plays, one concert film, one tour documentary, twenty six singles, and fourteen music videos.
