The Art Institute of Pittsburgh or AIP is a private, for-profit institute of higher education located in Pittsrburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1921 and is the oldest and most well-known of all the Art Institutes throughout North America. With a long history of producing all types of art and artists, the AIP is considered the flagship school of the Art Institute System – the largest collegiate art and design education system in the world.
The AIP academic facilities are housed in a large building located in downtown Pittsburgh. Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the AIP offers Associate’s and Bachelor of Science degrees in various Art courses with emphasis on design education and career preparation for the creative job market.
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division was founded in 2000 and is considered the leader in online creative arts education. Guaranteeing the same quality of education provided by AIP in its on-campus programs, its Online Division offers the added advantage of convenience by allowing students to attend classes anytime they want to fit their busy schedules. The Online Division offers 16 academic programs which include Associate degree programs in Kitchen & Bath Design, Graphic Design and Web Design & Interactive Media; Bachelor’s degree programs in Web Design & Interactive Media, Graphic Design, Photography, Advertising, Fashion & Retail Management, Game Art & Design, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Interior Design, Media Arts & Animation and Culinary Management; and diploma programs in Digital Design, Residential Planning, and Web Design.
Tuition cost per credit hour for online programs is US$448 plus an Online Lab Fee of US$100 and a Digital Resource Fee of US$75 per course. Admission fee for new students is US$150. Financial aid is extended via loans, grants and scholarships.
