Barry University

Barry University is a Catholic institution on Dominican foundation that respects the diversity of faiths, cultures, prospective and ages. There are about 9,000 students currently enrolled in the university’s more than 100 undergraduates, graduates, professionals and doctoral programs. Majority of this number attend classes at Barry University’s Miami Shores campus in Florida located between the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The rest attend theirs in various sites located throughout the state. The students’ needs are ably supported by over 2,100 administrators, faculty members and support staff.

The transformation of a 40-acre tract of tropical vegetation into Barry’s college campus happened through the original conceptualization of the most Reverend Patrick Barry, the Bishop of St. Augustine and the Reverend Mother M. Gerold Barry, Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan. Barry University opened its doors in 1940 and got its present name on November 1981. This institution has had six Adrian Dominican Sisters serving as president from the time of its inception to the present. The college curriculum is grounded on liberal arts tradition offering only the highest academic standards for its undergraduate, graduate and professional education.

Tuition for a full time 12 to18 credit semester is $ 13,200.00. Credits in excess of 18 costs $ 790.00 per hour. Room rate per semester for single occupancy is $ 5,441.00, while meal plans for 15 meals/week cost about $ 1,300.00 per semester.
