Western Career College was renamed Carrington College in June 2010 to reflect the school’s steady growth and expanding range of degree programs. Originally founded in 1967 in Sacramento, California as the Northwest College of Medical Assistants and Dental Assistants, the college’s primary aim was to provide education to the local healthcare community.
Today, Western Career College under its new name, Carrington College, is a privately owned institute of higher education operated by Carrington Colleges Group, Inc., a subsidiary of DeVry, Inc. With branch campuses located in Antioch; Citrus Heights, Emeryville; Pleasant Hill; Sacramento; San Jose; San Leandro; and Stockton and an online campus that is accessible to anyone anywhere in the world via the Internet, the college is able to offer degree programs in allied health, criminal justice, architectural design drafting, graphic design, and business fields. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
For its online degree programs, Carrington College Online offers Associate of Science degree programs in the areas of Accounting; Business; Criminal Justice; General Studies; Graphic Design; Healthcare Administration; Health Information Technology; and Sales and Marketing. Cost of tuition for online courses include tuition; electronic course materials; and required equipment and is charged at a rate of US$390 per credit hour.
Financial aid is available to all students regardless of whether they are enrolled in on-campus or online classes. The various forms of financial aid extended include Federal loans, Federal grants, Federal work-study arrangements and scholarships for qualified students.
