Cleveland Institute of Electronics (CIE), based in Cleveland, Ohio, is a distance learning institute established in 1934. It was first known as the Smith Practical Radio Institute and was founded on the vision of providing correspondence learning courses in radio and electronics. CIE is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council located in Washington, DC. It is also approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools to offer post-secondary programs.
All courses at CIE are distance learning courses, which means that students take online courses and set up their own laboratories at home. CIE offers basic, intermediate, and advanced level electronics courses as well three accredited Associate in Applied Science Degree programs and two Bachelor's Degree programs.

Admissions is an easy process (open admissions policy) with applicants able to enroll online simply by filling out the online enrollment form. Applicants can also apply by calling CIE's guidance counselor.
Standard tuition at CIE per course is $1,295 to $4,495. CIE offers discounts from time to time for as much as 50% off the standard tuition listed.
Financial aid is available CIE's Financing Special Education Loan, Federal Aid, the DANTES Program (military tuition assistance).
