Faulkner University

Faulkner University located in Montgomery, Alabama is a private Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Church of Christ. Its mission is to worship God by providing its students with education that will not only develop them academically but spiritually; education that, as expressed in their mission statement, centers around the development of one’s character “in a caring environment where every individual matters, everyday.”

Founded in 1942, the university traces its beginnings to the Montgomery Bible School in Ann Street. Renamed Alabama Christian College in 1953, it was not until after 11 years that the school moved to the campus where it stands now along Atlanta Highway. In 1985, the college was renamed Faulkner University in honor of its longtime supporter, Dr. James Faulkner.

Today, Faulkner University houses four colleges; namely, the Alabama Christian College of Arts and Sciences, the Harris College of Business and Executive Education, the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, and the V.P. Black College of Biblical Studies. Although its main campus is in Montgomery, it has extended campuses in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile. The university also holds classes at various corporate sites and armories of the National Guard.

Through its four distinguished colleges, Faulkner extends over 65 degree programs including Bachelor’s, Master’s, Juris Doctor, Associates Degrees and Certificates of Study.

As a private institution, the university does not distinguish between in-state and out-of-state student enrollment. For academic year 2009-2010, the total cost of admission to Faulkner University, whether one is a resident of Alabama or not, is around US$20,000 and this includes tuition, on-campus housing, and meals at the cafeteria. Financial aid is available by way of loans, grants, scholarships and off-campus employment to qualified students.
