Florida Gulf Coast University

The Florida Gulf Coast University, better known as FGCU, is a public, coeducational university located in Fort Myers, Florida. Founded in 1991 just a few years before the entry of the 21st century, FGCU is witness to the various changes in the landscape of education brought about by advancements in technology and a shifting in the manner young people view the world. The university’s aim is to embrace these changes and shifting views while upholding the strengths of traditional education. This insures that students get the best middle ground that allows them to fully develop their skills and competencies thereby insuring them success in life and work.

To achieve its mission, FGCU offers students various undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s degree through a wide choice of majors. It also offers graduate courses to professionals who want to further their studies. The university has six distinguished colleges; namely, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Health Professions, College of Professional Studies, Lutgert College of Business, and U.A. Whitaker School of Engineering. FGCU also has an Online Continuing Education Program that allows students who cannot attend the traditional day classes to complete their courses online.

Despite a total of 10,221 enrollments, the university strives to limit the size of its classes to allow a focused exchange between students and teachers.

Cost of admission to FGCU per credit hour is US$144.56 for resident undergraduate students and US$653.20 for non-residents. For graduate students, the cost of tuition and fees per credit hour for residents is US$300.89 and US$1,095.89 for non-residents.

On-campus housing is available although students are encouraged to apply early to be accommodated.

Financial aid is extended to students who may be having difficulty paying for the cost of tuition and fees.
