Having a bruised knee can hurt, although it may not be a serious condition. A bruised knee can result from various types of trauma to the knee. There are things that you can do, however, that will hasten the healing process and make you feel more comfortable.

If you do not have an ice pack, you can make your own. A pack of frozen peas (or other vegetables) will do. You can purchase pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medication from any drugstore without a prescription from the doctor. These pills will help you handle the pain that the bruising causes and take down the swelling as well. After about a week, your bruised knee should be healed.
The importance of rest cannot be emphasized enough. Resting your knee should be your priority while it is healing. Until the knee is completely healed, you have to avoid strenuous physical activity such as jogging, running, and riding a bike.
