Dizziness is the condition wherein you feel as if the room were spinning. It is also called lightheadedness. In most cases, dizziness should not be a cause for concern. Practically everyone feels dizzy at least once in their lives. However, prolonged dizziness or recurring dizziness is a good reason to consult your doctor. Moreover, if you feel dizzy, you might be more prone to injuries, especially if you fall. As such, even if you only experience a temporary spell of dizziness, you need to take immediate steps to treat it, or at least stop the sensation as soon as possible.
The first thing that you have to do is sit down or lie down so as to avoid falling down. Avoid sudden movements as these may simply aggravate the sensation. Stay in that resting position for a few minutes until the sensation passes away.
You can also drink some hot tea - this will help soothe you. Some people attest to the effectiveness of ginger tea in alleviating dizziness. If you have fresh ginger, simply crush some and steep in hot water. After a few minutes, you can remove the ginger and drink the tea. Adding sugar makes the tea more palatable for some people.
Sometimes, people who are dehydrated experience bouts of dizziness. If you think that dehydration may be the cause of your dizziness, the treatment is simple: increase your water intake. Believe it or not, drinking eight glasses of water a day really does wonders!
Another reason for dizziness may be the lack of sugar. As such, you may also want to munch on a candy bar for immediate relief.
