Lesley University was founded as Lesley School in 1909 and was a proprietary women’s institution until a board of trustees reorganized it in 1941. Lesley School changed its name to Lesley College in 1944 when the academic institution was authorized to award baccalaureate degrees. Although the school was first granted authority to confer graduate degrees in 1954, it retained the name Lesley College.
The school changed its name to Lesley University in 2001 when Lesley College merged with The Art Institute of Boston. Lesley University now offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the fields of education, counseling, human services, global studies, art therapy and management. Classes are generally held at the campuses in Boston and Cambridge however, some courses can be earned online through the school’s distance learning platform.
The following courses are offered through Lesley University’s online program: Business Management Degree Completion (BS), Educational Studies Specializing in Adult Learning (PhD), Mathematics Education (MEd), Science in Education (MEd), Technology in Education (MEd), and Ecological Teaching and Learning (MS). Associate programs are also offered online.
Tuition for graduate level courses is at $500.00 per credit while undergraduate tuition is at $370.00 per credit. Rates may change without prior notice and does not include any incidental costs. Financial aid is available to eligible students and these come in the form of Federal Grants, scholarships and loans. For information on tuition and aid, contact Lesley University’s Financial Aid Office.
The admission requirements for Lesley University’s programs are quite program-specific. It would be best that potential students contact the University’s Admissions Office to secure the list of requirements. It is also recommended that applicants have a copy of all submitted application documents, including supporting papers because these cannot be returned.
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredit Lesley University and its online degree-granting arm.
