At 13 years old, most kids have a few years of recreation league football, baseball, basketball or soccer experience under their belts. Maybe they even have the beginnings of a trophy collection on the shelf at home. At age 13, Peter Lenz was an accomplished motorcycle road racer, racking up some nine national and nine regional championships over his six year career. During the warmup lap for Sunday's U.S. Grand Prix Racer's Union 250cc event in Indianapolis, Lenz crashed and was struck by another competitor. He was pronounced dead at the scene, from massive internal injuries. His death will undoubtedly spark debate on the risks associated with children in motorsports.
