200 Cattle Die in Stockton, Wisconsin

The Portage County Sheriff's Department was called to a field in Stockton, Wisconsin over the weekend to investigate the cause of 200 dead cattle. Officials report that the cattle dropped dead and bodies were removed via semi load tractor trailers for disposal.

Officials from the Portage County Humane Society are investigating the cattle deaths. The owner suspects that infectious bovine rhinotracheitis or bovine virus diarrhea is to blame for the animals' deaths. Carcasses have been sent to laboratories for further testing.

Police have assured no other animals or people can be adversely affected by the cattle deaths.
