$4.2 Million Worth of Pot Tucked in Tomato Truck in Nogales, Az.

Border Protection and Customs agents in Nogales, Arizona seized almost 5,000 pounds of marijuana tucked in the back of a tractor trailer amongst tomatoes on December 30, 2010. Officers were inspecting commercial vehicles with x-ray technology along the Nogales port of entry when, while pallets of tomatoes were being removed, drug sniffing canines alerted officers of the weed.

Upon closer inspections, officers discovered that many of the pallets contained bales of marijuana, numbering 210 bales and weighing in at an astounding 4,984 pounds. Officers immediately seized the truck and the drugs, worth an estimated $4.2 million dollars.

The driver, a 48 year old male from Mexico, was arrested. He is awaiting prosecution by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
