Beastie Boys fans rejoice! Remaining hip hop members Mike D (Michael Diamond) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz) have signed a book deal and the uber-popular Boys from Brooklyn's story in memoir form is in the works! The book will be published by Spiegel and Grau (a division of Random House) and follow the band's unusual history making style. It's set to combine anecdotal tales, stark humor, puns on pop culture, photos, and an eclectic parodic collection from people in the band and beyond.
The title of the book is still unknown but rumor has it whatever the Beasties pen will be available for purchase during the fall of 2015. Julie Grau, publisher for Spiegel and Grau, offered via an interview the Boys have shown interest in "challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience" from a "kaleidoscopic frame of reference" which "asks a reader to keep up." Hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins has agreed to edit the book and the band's agent, Luke Janklow, insists that it will mimic the style of Grand Royal, the former 1990s magazine spin off of the band.
Past talks of a memoir were nixed when the late Adam Yauch, former member known as MCA, was diagnosed with the cancer that took his life in 2012.
Representatives from the band have declined further comment but check back soon for more or go here !
