A California couple try to sell their infant at Walmart. Patrick Fousek, 38, and Samantha Tomasini, 20, were arrested in Salinas, California by local authorities after a failed attempt at selling their 6 month old for $25 dollars outside of a local WalMart.
Officier Lalo Villegas, Salinas Police Spokesman, says that Fousek approached two women before the store and offered his baby in exchange for $25 dollars. The women initially thought Fousek was joking but eventually, after Fousek repeated the offer several times, the women phoned the authorities. Officer Villegas reported that the women "did an outstanding job and gave our officers good information. I don't know if they're mothers but they definitely had that instinct to help."
Authorities arrested Fousek and Tomasini at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. When authorities made the arrest, Fousek and Tomasini were high on methamphetamine and the home was in horrible condition. The baby was quickly removed from the home and into Child Protective Services after Tomasini reported to authorities she had nursed the baby while high on illicit drugs.
Fousek was formally charged with being under the influence of narcotics and violating probation. Tomasini was charged with being under the influence of narcotics. Arraignment for both will be on Firdya, June 25, 2010.
