Chad Jones Giants Rookie May Lose Leg

Chad Jones, a rookie for the New York Giants, may lose his leg following a horrific car wreck on Friday, June 25, 2010. The accident occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana in the early hours of June 25.  Jones was driving his SUV at the time of the accident when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a street pole.  Paramedics arrived on the scene and reported to local press that Jones was in "guarded" condition and had fractured his leg severely with "arteries and nerves exposed."  Upon arrival to a local hospital, Jones' condition was listed as "critical" and was scheduled for surgery at 10:15 p.m.  ESPN's Adam Schefter reported via Twitter that "doctors are attempting to save the 21 year old's leg."


Jones' coach, Les Miles also reported via Twitter: "Just got news about Chad Jones' car accident.  We are praying for Chad and his family.  Keep him in your prayers."  


Jones is a third round NFL pick for the NY Giants.  Jones began his sports career playing college football and baseball at Louisiana State University.
