Chevrolet has chosen this week's Beijing Auto Show to debut a 5 passenger crossover concept vehicle based on the Volt electric car. Called the Volt MPV5 (Multi Purpose Vehicle, 5 passenger), the new design will utilize the battery electric propulsion system designed for the Volt sedan. Like the Volt sedan, a gasoline motor powers a generator to extend the vehicle's range once the batteries are depleted. Due to its larger size and increased weight, the MPV5's battery only range is estimated at 32 miles, 20% less than the Volt sedan.
