Corey Haim, age 38, died in the early hours of Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in San Fernando Valley, California. The cause of Haim's death is a suspected overdose though details the cause of his death are still under investigation. A representative for the former child star identified as Mark Heaslip reported to TMZ that Haim had been under the weather on Tuesday afternoon. Heaslip maintained that Haim was examined by a doctor who visited Haim's shared residence with Judy, his mother. The doctor reported to authorities that Haim had a high fever and difficulty breathing on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before his death.
Heaslip also reported that Haim's mother Judy was awakened at approximately midnight when Haim was standing over her and then abruptly collapsed. Judy made a frantic 911 call but medics did not respond for over 20 minutes and in that time she lost her son. Medics transported Haim to a Burbank Hospital at approximately 3:00 a.m. after many failed attempts of reviving him.
Former "Lost Boys" costar and longtime friend, Corey Feldman, made an appearance on Larry King Live to discuss Haim's death. Feldman maintains that Haim did not overdose, despite media reports and Haim's 20 year long battle with addition which nearly cost Haim his life in 2001 when he suffered a drug related stroke.
Haim attempted to revive his acting career and pull his life back together in the months proceeding his death. Haim had just finished filming "The Dead Sea" with producer Rick Tucker. Tucker maintains that Haim was working on a "comeback" and that the set of "The Dead Sea" was alcohol and drug free.
Haim left behind his mother, Judy, family, and many friends. One of his friendships had grown into a romance with Daisy de la Hoya. Daisy is a twenty seven year old former VH1 reality of the show "Daisy of Love." Feldman introduced the couple. Daisy tweeted Wednesday "I'm sooooooo devastated right now...This is the worst day ever I can't believe this." Daisy also sadly posted on Twitter: "Why do I always fall for the lost soul? We could of been lost together, now your lost forever ... I'll miss you."
An unidentified source reported to TMZ: "Daisy knew Corey was doing a lot of drugs — especially prescription meds...She thought he was kind and talented, and she wanted to rescue him. She became his confidant over the last few weeks."
