Duck Dynasty fans may have something to mourn: it seems that the highly popular A&E show may have been axed over the recent comments made by its sixty seven year old star Phil Robertson. The television personality offered his opinion regarding gays via recent GQ interview and the whole empire of Duck seems to be on the edge of collapse.
Robertson was quoted by the magazine on December 18, 2013 as saying: It seems like to me, a vagina - as a man - would be more desirable than a man's anus. That's just me." He further elaborated with: "There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on dudes! But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man." And when that wasn't enough, Robertson pointed his finger at society's lax morals in: "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and those men...they won't inherit the kingdom of God. It's not right."
We know that t.v. personalities are allowed to be themselves but often are only allowed to sound the views and opinions of those who pay their paycheck. And A&E is staunchly in support of the LGBT community.
Which means, Robertson's prophetic: "It's a TV show. This thing ain't gonna last forever. No way" in the same interview may mean big trouble for one of the U.S.' most favorite pop show. Fans are in an uproar over the entire "controversy." Some are boycotting the show until or unless Robertson retracts his statement. Others are outraged that he lost his position because of what he said. And it seems even the cast stands behind Robertson with some refusing to film until his place on the show is no longer suspended.
