Suffolk County SPCA staff and local police authorities discovered an elderly Long Island woman had housed over 70 living animals and one dozen dead animals in her condemned Shirley, New York, house. On Tuesday evening, officers and veterinarians found conditions within the residence abhorrent and filthy. Authorities reported over a dozen animals were dead, debris and animal waste filled the home, and all of the 70 live ducks, rabbits, mice, pigeons, chinchillas, dogs, cats, goats, pig, and cow were malnourished and "filthy."

Officials also reported that there was no food within the home. The elderly owner of the animals is disabled and facing animal cruelty charges.
