A group of engineer's from Helsinki's Metropolia University of Applied Sciences have built an electric sports car for competition in Progressive Insurance's Automotive X-Prize. Called the ERA, for Electric Race About, the car has some impressive design specs. Motors, powered by lithium ion batteries, will be positioned at all four wheels, giving the car the superior traction of all wheel drive. Zero to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) will happen in under five seconds, on the way to a top speed in excess of 120 miles per hour. Range is estimated at 180 miles on a full charge.
