Hutaree, a Christian militia group was raided by the FBI's Anti-terrorism unit in Adrian, MIchigan, as well as in Illionois, parts of Ohio, and sections of Indiana. With a small army of helicopters which lit the sky above Adrian well into the night, and armed with search warrants, members of the FBI and a group from the Department of Homeland Security raided the stronghold of the Hutaree. Local Authorities and the FBI arrested suspects who were subject of an on-going investigation. Details regarding the identities of those arrested are undisclosed. Those arrested will appear before the U.S. District Court in Detroit on Monday, March 29, 2010.
Details of the case remain largely unknown. The Hutaree group belongs to the Colonial Christian Republic. It has a website denouncing plans of: "Preparing for the end time battles to keep the testimony of Jesus Christ alive." The founding principle of the group, described at the Hutaree website, is: "We, the Hutaree, are prepared to defend all those who belong to Christ and save those who aren't. We will still spread the word, and fight to keep it, up to the time of the great coming. Being Hutaree is to stay the Testimony of Christ alive, and follow a motto, John15:13, 'Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.'"
The Hutaree website also posts an "Evil Jew Forum," which allows for "talk about being an evil Jew and how we are taking over the world in our own private forum where no one else can see. Shalomi or something." Another section of the Hutaree site posts: "Local threats/intel" and allows for posting of any "intel relating to local threats to the Hutaree such as government operations against us or Ed's constant playing of Dancing Queen (something wrong with that boy)." "Weapons" are also linked to the Hutaree website as "the things you kill with."
Dawud Walid, a Council For American-Islam Relations execuative recently attended a banquet as a "network journalist" where members of the Hutaree proclaimed words which caused Muslim attendees to "gasp" after an "alleged threat against Muslims" was made. Apparently the Hutaree identifies themselves as "Christian soldiers preparing for the arrival and battle with the anti-Christ."
A woman identified as "Anna" posted a firsthand account of the raid on a Michigan Militia, a group with no ties to the Hutaree, website: "The Federal Authorities have raided not only our group but also the Michigan Militia. They had hijacked their website and placed word there that they were not raided. We need some help please. This has to stop. I am enroute south with my children using the wifi's as I can. They were catching others as they came to their rallying points, they broke into homes and took children and used the tasers on wives, my son who is 12 and I got out by crawling through the creeks behind our house. My husband and others are taken, please call the press and tell them, if any in the Michigan Militia is still free please rally with them. Please help."
