Jessica Simpson to Return to Television With Show Based on Her Life

Pop songstress, fashion designer, and soon to be new mom of two Jessica Simpson has been slated by NBC to return to television with a show based on her life. Executive producer Ben Silverman made the announcement on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. This is the first time in several years that Jes has been in front of the camera in a major role (unless you count her "Dancing With The Stars" gig).

Silverman revealed in a statement to Reuters that the show is a blend of "I Love Lucy" and "Curb Your Enthusiam." With a plot based in Simpson's trapeze walk between celebrity stardom and new motherhood, Silverman offered: "The show is inspired by her life as she's going through a new phase in her life becoming a mom." Simpson is also set to be an executive producer for the show and will include the thirty two year old's quirkiness as highlighted on her former MTV reality show co-starring her first husband on "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica."

The pilot shows promise that the events "loosely based" on Simpson's adventures as new mom to daughter, Maxwell Drew, born during May of 2012, and of her pregnancy with baby number two due sometime in the summer.
