Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, are parents! Carey gave birth to the twins in a Los Angeles hospital on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 12:07 p.m. The names of the babies have not been released but the births were confirmed in an official statement issued to the Associated Press by Carey's representative, Cindi Berger. Berger offered that the first baby, a girl, weighed in at
5 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 18 inches long. The second baby, a boy, weighed in at 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 inches long.
Reports indicate that Cannon drove Carey to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom and encountered an "I Love Lucy" moment along the way per Carey's rep. The pair had to be escorted to the maternity ward at a hospital by a nurse after arrival because the pair were in the wrong section of the medical facility.
The babies arrived on Carey and Cannon's third wedding anniversary. Shortly after delivery, Cannon Tweeted: "My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won't ever be able to top this!" On Sunday, Cannon Tweeted: "I'm in the happiest place I've ever been in my life. I never had more amazing things happening. I am humbled by God's Favor!" Berger confirmed that the family listened to Carey's "We Belong Together" following the arrival of the babies.
Carey and Cannon are expected to renew their wedding vows on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
