Matt Lauer, host of CBS' morning show Today, has reportedly provoked Kanye West. Given Kanye's irrational behavior regarding former President George W. Bush ("George Bush doesn't like black people") and his microphone hijack during the 2009 MTV VMA's (when Taylor Swift was accepting her award), it's no surprise that Lauer is the focus of Kanye's disdain.
Kanye filmed his Today appearance yesterday and vehemently took to Twitter to air his complaints. Kanye Tweeted: "While I was trying to give the interview they started playing the 'MTV' under me with audio!!! I don't mess with Matt Lauer or the 'Today' Show...and that's a very nice way for me to put it!...HE TRIED TO FORCE MY ANSWERS. IT WAS VERY BRUTAL AND I CAME THERE WITH ONLY POSITIVE INTENT."
During the Today interview, Kanye also promised no more more media appearances after producers ran footage of the MTV VMA incident and Lauer requested Kanye to look at a picture of George Bush during the interview. Kanye's response was angry, and he stated "Yo, how am I supposed to talk if you gonna run this thing in the middle, while I'm talking?...Please don't let that happen again, it's like ridiculous."
Later in the interview, regarding the President Bush photograph, Kanye responded: "I didn't need you guys to show me the tape in order to like prompt my emotion to what I'm going to say."
Like any good journalist, Lauer didn't back down but offered an explanation, on behalf of the show's producers, for the clips. It was, afterall, an interview.
Kanye's Today show interview aired this morning.
