The folks at McLaren have been busy building things other than race cars. The new McLaren MP4-12C, successor to the legendary McLaren F1, was officially unveiled this week at the companies Woking, England headquarters.
Borrowing from the company's formula one racing experience, the car will rely heavily on carbon fiber to save weight and will feature braking and shifting technology pulled directly from F1 cars.
The MP4-12C goes on sale later this year at a price somewhere above $225,000. The car will feature a twin turbo, 3.8 liter V8 engine good for 600 horsepower. Top speed, as with the original McLaren F1, will be somewhere north of 200 miles per hour.
