The city is saying that a tribute will be held outside Jackson's boyhood home in Gary on Saturday. That will mark the weekend of Jackson’s 52nd birthday.
The city will be honoring Jackson’s memory as a great and giving person and as the world's greatest entertainer, the mayor of Gary, Rudy Clay said. The Jackson Family moved out of the city after the Jackson 5 became famous in 1969.
The only details given yet are that local entertainers will be included and a Michael Jackson impersonator will be at the event.
Jackson died last year in Los Angeles of an overdose of sedatives at his home on June 25th.
