First Lady Michelle Obama was the target of a Joan Rivers quip during the Howard Stern Show when Rivers rendered Mrs. Obama "Blackie O."
The 77 year old spitfire comedienne shocked the nation and even Howard Stern during an interview published by RadarOnline. Rivers stated: "We used to have Jackie O now we have Blackie O." The joke fell a little short of the mark and Rivers is facing backlash, despite her ill attempt at recognizing Michelle's impeccable style and dress. Rivers stated to Stern: "I thought it was a funny complimentary joke when she first came [to the White House]. I think it's an adorable joke...I thought it was a compliment."
Stern's co-host, Robin Quivers, responded to Rivers' statement, posing: "Where's the compliment in that? I'm looking and looking, I'm trying to find it." Rivers confessed: "They said you can't say that."
The comment is most likely a callous way to draw attention to Rivers' new WE reality show Joan Knows Best on January 25, 2011 at 9:00 p.m.
