Several tornadoes touched down in Missouri and Arkansas during the last hours of New Years Eve that wreaked havoc and killed seven people on Friday. The National Weather Service determined that a weak, 50 yard wide tornado which traveled less than one mile was responsible for at least three deaths. Meteorologists believe a clash between cold and warm air systems were behind the violent weather.
Officials in Missouri and Arkansas are cleaning up wreckage and assessing damages in both states. The NWS has ended the tornado watch for sections of Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, and southern Illinois.
