Morrissey's U.S. Tour Grinds to a Halt Due to Illness

English rocker Morrissey's U.S. tour derailed today, January 26, 2013, as it grinds to a halt due to the fifty three year old's illness. The former Smith's singer was admitted to the Baumont Hospital in the suburbs of Royal Oak outside of Detroit, Michigan, on Friday, January 25, 2013. Initial reports confirm the singer is battling a bladder infection per an official statement issued by Lauren Papapietro, his representative.

Morrissey's show in Flint, Michigan was cancelled and performances in Minneapolis and Chicago have been postponed. Despite the singer's illness, speculation abounds that a Smith's reunion may be possible and that Mike Joyce has attempted to reconcile Morrissey and Johnny Marr. The pair fell out during 1987 following an argument and the Smiths disbanded. Last year there were talks of a reunion though attempts were squashed.

An interview with Britain's The Sun followed and Smith's drummer Mike Joyce offered a public suggestion to Morrissey to consider reconciling the groups' differences for their fans. He stated: "Morrissey's voice is still incredible, Johnny is playing great. With the equipment and PA systems 30 years on, if we got up on stage and played, it would sound incredible. A promoter asked me, 'Why don't you just do it? It would make millions of people happy.' I said, 'You're asking the wrong man. I don't think about it every day. But if they asked me, I'd probably say yes. If you put everyone in the same room, it's amazing how things can turn around."
