Actor Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans in the early hours of Saturday, April 16, 2011, following an argument with his wife. Insiders reported to TMZ that the forty seven year old actor was walking the streets of the Big Easy when a cab driver reportedly witnessed Cage having a verbal altercation with his wife, Alice. The cab driver reported the incident to the police upon watching the situation between the pair escalate from yelling and screaming to Cage grabbing Alice.
When the officers responded to the scene, they ordered Cage and his wife to leave and return to their residence. Cage supposedly asked the police: "Why don't you just arrest me?" The police reiterated their original order and Cage again repeated his question. Police then apprehended Cage and charged him with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace.
Alice insisted there was "no physical contact" and supposedly did not want Cage charged. Bond was set at $11,000 dollars at 10:27 a.m. Cage was released less than one hour later at 11:20 a.m.
