The campus of Northern Illinois University, located in DeKalb, Illinois, was locked down yesterday because of a shooting. This is the second in a series of shootings that have rocked the campus. On February 14, 2008 a former graduate student shot and killed 5 and injured 19 before he shot himself. Yesterday's shooting involved only one person who was injured by the incident. Authorities on campus briefly locked down the campus and apprehended the gunman. The more recent shooting, per NIU's website, was"an isolated incident between two individuals" and occurred in a residence hall.
Classes were not canceled for the 25,000 students enrolled, as a result of the shooting.
