Obama's healthcare bill was passed by Congress by 219-212 votes. President Obama declared this history making passage as "this is what change looks like. As momentous as this day is, it's not the end of the journey." This was the first major win for Obama since taking his seat in the White House as presient. The bill will help insure over 95% of Americans at what opponents feel is a price for which Americans will pay dearly. Obama addressed opponents with "This legislation will not fix everything that ails our healthcare system, but it moves us decisively in the right direction. This is what change looks like."
House Democrates reportedly hugged and cheered while chanting "Yes we can" after speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered the results of the final count which left Republican votes at zero with 34 Democrats voting in opposition as well. Congress reconvenes Tuesday to put the finishing touches on the bill.
