Tickets for the 2009 Ravinia Festival are on sale beginning April 16. The Chicago festival offers a variety of musicians throughout the summer, and most concerts are outdoors on 36 acres at Highland Park. It is a unique experience by inviting concert-goers to arrive before the show, bring a picnic and alcohol, and sit and visit until the event begins at dark with candlelight.
Over 600,000 people enjoy Ravinia events every year, attending the 120-150 Ravinia-related shows. The Ravina Festival began in 1904 and is the oldest outdoor festival in North America. The name Ravinia comes from the ravines that are along the lake shoreline.
