Comedian and new husband Russell Brand evades assault charges from a September incident at LAX involving the paparazzi. Brand was en route to a pre-wedding trip with his fiancee Katy Perry when a paparazzo attempted to take revealing pictures of Perry. Brand responded defensively and faced assault charges.
Brand and his lawyer attended a meeting with the Los Angeles city attorney on Wednesday. Following a lecture regarding the importance of maintaining control over his temper, Brand was released free of charges and the case was closed.
LA City Attorney spokesman frank Mateljan issued a statement to E! News which said "Following that meeting, we do not anticipate any further action will be necessary regarding this matter." The paparazzo will also be required to attend a meeting at the courthouse with an expected outcome similar to Brand's meeting.
