Russell Brand, comedian and "Arthur" actor, has been selected to star in the film adaptation of Rock Of Ages. Brand's role in the film, based upon the hit Broadway musical, was announced by Director Adam Shankman via Twitter post. The Tweet read: "I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofages movie! I see a mullet in his future...maybe a Nikki Six?"
Brand has not officially confirmed whether he will certainly star in the film as his choice will be largely based upon how much time the movie will keep him away from his beautiful wife, Katy Perry. Brand offered to CNN in January: "we've been talking about 'Rock of Ages' for a little while, but I think we're trying to work out scheduling because, as you know, as a man who is married to a person that could often be on another continent, I need to put my marriage first. If we can work out the scheduling, then I'll do it."
Brand's role as Lonny will include all narration for the film as well as act as the operator for the film's Bourbon Room where much of the story takes place. The film also stars Julianne Hough as Sherrie, a young woman who relocates to Hollywood to pursue acting and gets a job at the Bourbon Room, Alec Baldwin as Dennis Dupree, owner of the Bourbon Room, Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, Diego Gonzalez Boneta as Drew, and Mary J. Blige as Justice.
