Anyone who watched MTV's The Real World: San Francisco during 1994 remembers Pedro Zamora and his partner/husband Sean Sasser. Sadly, at the age of 44, Sean has died due to mesothelioma leaving a legacy of tireless work as an AIDS activist throughout many political and social organizations.
Before Sean passed, he spent the years following Pedro's death (shortly after the show ended) with his life partner, Michael Kaplan. Though Sean's appearances with Pedro on MTV's Real World: San Francisco were brief in front of the camera they had huge impact. And Sean continued that momentum with Kaplan with tremendous efforts bringing highly taboo issues to the mainstream spotlight. As one of the most well known AIDS activists of his time, Sasser's legacy of educating millions and increasing AIDS awareness will continue.
