Last night’s U.S. Open match between Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters ended in bizarre fashion, as Williams received a point penalty for abusing an official.
As reported from Newsday, Clijsters was just two points from victory, when Serena was called for a foot fault on a second serve, giving Clijsters match point in the process.
Williams then allegedly screamed at the judge "I swear to God, I'll f --- take this ball and shove it down your f -- - throat, " which then led to a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct.
This meant automatic loss of point, and the match then went to Clijsters 6-4, 7-5.
It ended up being a very controversial taking point, to what was a highly entertaining match.
