Officials along the border between Baja California and Tijuana discovered a severed head on a bridge in Tijuana, Mexico on Monday. Border authorities report that the head was that of a man between 25 to 30 years old and had several bullet wounds. Border officials also reported the head was suspended from a metallic ring and nylon rope and a menacing message was found in close proximity to the severed head.
Officials believe the decapitation is a result of cartel activities and gang related violence between rivals and followers of Teodoro "El Teo" Garcia Simental. Just hours before the severed head was discovered, officials also found the body of a 30 to 35 year old woman in a nearby Tijuana location also with a menacing note nearby.
