As anyone who has ever worked a trade show at the Javits Center in NYC will attest to, anything not bolted down to the exhibit hall floor is fair game for theft. BMW got the worst of it this year, but their losses occured before the cars hit the show floor. Six vehicles being imported for the New York International Auto Show were stolen from the Port of Newark, NJ, before they could be delivered to the Javitz Center. Missing are two five series sedans, a six series, a long-wheelbase seven series and two unnamed vehicles. The thefts occurred over three seperate days, leading authorities to believe it was an inside job.
