Eight year veteran Bill Hader announced that this week will be the end of his Saturday Night Live career. His role as the character of Stefon, the "Weekend Update" SNL correspondent, as well as his impersonations of Julian Assange, Vincent Price, Al Pacino, James Carville, and other show related characters like Vinnie Vedicci, will be greatly missed by fans.
The thirty four year old husband, father, and actor recently issued a statement to the New York Times in reference to his departure from the show. He offered: "It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point.... It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it's just time to go.'" Hader's departure follows last season's losses of the shows former stars Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig as well as next year's loss of Seth Meyers. Hader also offered to the Times that he believes the show's newcomers: Vanessa Bayer, Taran Killam, and Kate McKinnon, are more than competent to carry on where the "old timers" are leaving off. He stated: "There's a new sensibility happening and if it isn't totally apparent on the show yet, I see it on Wednesdays at the table reads."
Mr. Hader has been with SNL since 2005.
