Steve Carrell will be producing and starring in the remake of the movie “A Boyfriend for My Wife,” an Argentine romantic comedy of “Un Novio Para Mi Mujer,” Variety has said. Carrell's Carousel Productions is developing the film as a starring vehicle.
The original film by Juan Taratuto’s, which is the highest grossing homegrown movie of 2008 in Argentina, is a story about a timid husband who believes the only way out of his stifling marriage is to get his wife to fall in love with another man, so he enlists the help of a legendary yet unlikely Lothario to do the job.
Carrell will produce the remake with Christine Peters and Michael Cerenzie, along with Grace Ledding, and Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres exec producing.
The script of the film will be written by Mark Gibson and Phil Halprin.
Carrell’s great comedy films include “40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Get Smart,” “Date Night,” and the recently “Dinner For Schmucks.” He is also the star of the hit TV show “The Office.”
