Terrafugia Transition Flying Car Receives Faa Approval

Flying cars may no longer be the stuff of science fiction, reports RideLust.  The FAA has approved the Terrafugia Transition as a "light sport aircraft", despite the Transition's weight, which is 110 pounds above the FAA's normal limit.  The additional weight is caused by safety features required for approval of the Transition as an automobile.

Pilots will only need 20 hours of flight time for a basic license to fly the Transition in good weather under daylight conditions. Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of next year, at a price of approximately $194,000.
