Trent Reznor teams with his wife for "How To Destroy Angels," an enigmatic, collaborative band between the former Nine Inch Nails singer and Mariqueen Maandig, formerly of the band "West Indian Girl." Reznor and Maandig reportedly joined forces for a 6 track extended play release set for debut this summer, per an email sent to Consequence of Sound executives from the couples' publicist. Reznor and Maangig included a URL for the "How to Destroy Angels" website, a forty second long preview video of the band's first single. and some album cover artwork.
Reznor has supposedly returned to music after officially retiring his one man band Nine Inch Nails in 2009. Reznor stated "I've been thinking for some time now it's time to make NIN disappear for a while." Reznor found great success through the 2008 free digital download release of Nine Inch Nails' album "The Slip" through The Null Corporation. Reznor's "The Slip" was downloaded from the NIN website 1.4 million times.
Maandig sang lead vocals for the techno-dance based "West Indian Girl" band from 2004 until 2009. Maandig became engaged to Reznor in April 2009. Maandig left "West Indian Girl" in the summer of 2009 claiming retirement. Maandig and Reznor were married in October 2009.
