Twins kill their mother via beating and stabbing her to death. Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead, aged 16, reported the murder of their thirty four mother, Jarmeca Whitehead to authorities in January. The twins claimed that when they arrived home from school, they found their mother stabbed to death. Investigators and police began a search for individuals who matched descriptions given by Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah. After several months of searching and delving into an investigation, detectives determined that many of the details of the story indicate the teenage twins killed their mother due to a family disagreement.
An in-depth investigation and interviews with sources close to the young women revealed that their was a dispute between Jarmeca and the girls. Apparently the twins had lived with their grandmother and were angry to have been placed back in Jarmeca's custody. Robert Head, Jarmeca's boyfriend at the time of her death, speculates that another family member may have been involved in the brutal killing of Jarmeca though he was "not surprised" of the girls' involvement in Jarmeca's death.
The twins face federal criminal charges and will be tried as adults in Conyers, Georgia. The twins were arrested Friday, May 21, 2010 after a 5 month long investigation. Authorities are still trying to determine the motive behind the murder.
