The U.S. Border Patrol shoot and kill a fourteen year old in El Paso, Texas on Monday, June 7, 2010. Mexican and U.S. officials are still investigating the incident after the fatal shooting on an international bridge between Texas and Mexico.
Chihuahua State Officials released an official statement identifying the 14 year old as Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereca. Mexican officials have also demanded a full investigation into the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation quickly responded and is searching for evidence, testimony, and details behind the fatal shooting.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Doug Mosier addressed the incident on Tuesday, June 7, 2010. Mosier stated that the preliminary investigation shows the shooting occurred on Monday night on the U.S. side of the Paso Del Norte bridge and that Huereca was traveling from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. FBI spokesperson Andrea Simmons offered very few details. Simmons confirmed that no U.S. Border Patrol agents were injured and that the shooting was based upon an "assault" on an officer.
