A production 2010 VW Passat BlueMotion diesel recently drove 1,531 miles on a single 20.4 gallon tank of fuel. Driven by a reporter for the UK's Sunday Times newspaper, the ultra efficient Passat diesel averaged slightly more than 75 miles per gallon, which was verified by representatives from Guinness World Records. Sadly, the VW Passat BlueMotion Diesel is not available for purchase in the United States.
