Why Did Toyota Halt Sales of the Lexus GX 460?

Toyota has halted sales of the Lexus GX 460 full-size SUV in order to investigate a problem with the stability control system, as discovered by Consumer Reports magazine. In extreme circumstances, the stability control does not intervene quick enough, causing severe oversteer and possible loss of vehicle control.

Toyota has issued a worldwide order to stop sales of the GX 460 until the problem can be resolved, but has not issued a recall on vehicles already sold. They have also voluntalrily begun to test the stability control performance on all SUVs sold by Toyota and Lexus.
