Penn Foster College is a private, for-profit learning institution located in Scottsdale, Arizona that specializes in the provision of higher education via distance learning. Formerly located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Penn Foster was originally founded in 1890 as International Correspondence Schools (ICS) by Pennsylvania news editor, Thomas J. Foster. Today regarded as the leading provider of accredited distance education, Penn Foster College offers online Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree programs that are designed to give graduates a competitive edge when they apply for a new job or pursue a promotion.
Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), the college offers online Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and in Criminal Justice. For its Associate degree programs, it offers courses in over 21 concentrations that include Accounting, Business Management, Finance, Graphic Design, Criminal Justice and many more. Penn Foster College also offers online undergraduate certificates in Accounting; Business Management; General Studies; Graphic Design; and Human Resources.
All students are charged an admission fee of US$75 and a one-time registration fee of US$200. Tuition cost includes all textbooks and study materials required to complete the program. For degree programs, the cost of tuition is US$65 per credit for the first semester and US$90 per credit for subsequent semesters. For certificate programs, tuition cost is US$65 per credit.
Although Penn Foster College does not participate in federal financial aid, it offers interest-free monthly payment plans to help ease the burden of tuition costs of its students.
