Let's say you've hit the mega-million lottery, and you're ready to buy your all time dream car, the Bugatti Veyron. Before you write that check for $1.5 to $2 million dollars, there are some ownership costs you need to know about:
- A routine annual service costs roughly $20,000.00, more if they find any problems
- Tires, which you can expect to wear out on a regular basis, are $36,000.00 for a replacement set. Since they're unique to the Veyron, you can't save money by buying a cheaper brand.
- Wheels must be stress tested and inspected for cracks at every fourth tire change. Should you require a new wheel, each one is priced at $11,000.00.
The Veyron isn't very fuel efficient, either. EPA estimates are 8 mpg city and 13 mpg highway, but if you're at full throttle it will use a gallon of gas every three miles. Insurance, if you can even find a carrier to write it, will certainly be on the expensive side.
Maybe you should just buy that island in the Caribbean, instead.
